Procedure For Crimping Using A Cold-press Crimping Tool
Before using crimping tool contact crimper, ensure the selected crimping pin matches the wire specifications and that the crimping tool's die (jaws) is suitable for the wire diameter and terminal type. Check that the terminal type, wire gauge, and wire are consistent to avoid loosening or poor contact due to size discrepancies.
Remove the insulation from the end of the wire, exposing an appropriate length of conductor. Insert the copper wire into the slot of the crimping pin terminal. Confirm through the inspection hole on the terminal that the copper wire is fully inserted and the conductor is visible, indicating the correct depth.
Place the terminal with the wire inserted into the die d sub contact crimper, aligning it and ensuring the terminal is horizontal and not tilted. Apply even pressure to the handle until the crimping tool is fully closed. The crimping process must be applied precisely to ensure a tight bond between the terminal and the wire.
After crimping, slowly release die contact crimping tool and remove the terminal and wire assembly. Inspect the finished product to confirm a secure connection between the terminal and wire, without loosening or significant deformation. Verify the connection strength by gently pulling on the wire. If a faulty connection is found, re-crimp.
