Advantages Of Power Distribution Contacts In High-current, Heavy-duty Connectors
There are three contact distribution methods in high-current heavy duty wire connectors circuits: a single high-current contact, multiple parallel low-current contacts, and a mixed contact method. Each method has its advantages and limitations. This article mainly shares the advantages and disadvantages of high-current wire connector heavy duty distribution contacts.
High-power heavy duty electric cable connectors
The advantage of dedicated high-current heavy duty automotive electrical connectors contacts is the use of a single contact whose rated current capacity is listed in the datasheet. All tests and standards considering the contacts must be identical to ensure equal rated current, without considering thermal interactions between multiple parallel signal contacts.
Dedicated high-current heavy duty 12v connectors contacts are limited by contact size and termination method. Size considerations stem from the need to reduce contact volume resistance. There are three resistance sources in heavy duty 12 volt connectors: permanent connection resistance, the volume resistance of the contact itself, and the contact interface resistance. In signal or low-current 12v heavy duty connector circuits, volume resistance is usually the primary source of contact resistance.
