Care Should Be Taken When Hot-plugging Push-type Terminal Connectors.
Some models of the push fit terminal block connector connector are advertised as supporting hot-swapping, but this does not automatically mean that it is suitable for hot-swapping in all operating conditions. Inserting or removing the push connector block while it is energized may generate an electric arc between the contacts, which could damage the terminal pieces or the housing, or even affect the entire system. Similar risks of arcing and voltage fluctuations have been observed in other connector technologies, and these phenomena are more likely to occur in systems not designed for hot-swapping.
