Environmental Performance Of Heavy-duty Connectors
Common environmental properties include temperature resistance, moisture resistance, salt spray resistance, vibration and impact resistance.
Heat resistance. At present, the maximum operating temperature of heavy duty 12 volt connectors is 200℃ (except for a few high-temperature special 12v heavy duty connector), and the minimum temperature is -65℃. Since the current generates heat at the contact point when heavy duty crimp connectors is working, resulting in temperature rise, it is generally believed that the operating temperature should be equal to the sum of the ambient temperature and the temperature rise of the contact. In some specifications, the maximum allowable temperature rise of heavy duty waterproof electrical connectors at rated working current is clearly specified.
Moisture resistance. The intrusion of moisture will affect the insulation performance of the connection h and corrode metal parts. The constant damp heat test conditions are relative humidity 90%~95% (up to 98% according to product specifications), temperature +40±20℃, and the test time is at least 96 hours according to product regulations. Alternating damp heat test is more stringent.
Salt spray resistance. When the heavy duty connector works in an environment containing moisture and salt, its metal structural parts and contact parts surface treatment layer may produce electrochemical corrosion, affecting the physical and electrical properties of the heavy duty electrical connectors. In order to evaluate the ability of the heavy duty power connectors to withstand such an environment, a salt spray test is specified.
Vibration and shock Vibration and shock resistance are important properties of the heavy duty connector 24 pin, especially in special application environments such as aviation and aerospace, railway and road transportation. It is an important indicator for testing the robustness of the mechanical structure of the electrical connector and the reliability of electrical contact. There are clear regulations in the relevant test methods. The peak acceleration, duration and shock pulse waveform, as well as the time of electrical continuity interruption should be specified in the shock test.
Other environmental performance According to the use requirements, other environmental performances of the electrical connector include sealing (air leakage, liquid pressure), liquid immersion (resistance to deterioration of specific liquids), low air pressure, etc.
